A new formulation of Economic Model Predictive Control without terminal constraint

چکیده

In this paper, it is shown that a simple formulation of Economic Model Predictive Control can be used which possesses two features are generally viewed as mutually exclusive, namely, rather short prediction horizon (reachability-compatible) on one side, and the absence final constraint other side. Practical stability at an arbitrarily small neighborhood optimal unknown steady-state pair when some design parameters increase. It also system originated from time discretization continuous-time dynamics, size terminal region reduced by decreasing sampling period for same parameter setting. A commonly example given to illustrate results.

Contraction-based nonlinear model predictive control formulation without stability-related terminal constraints

Contraction-based nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) formulations are attractive because they generally require short prediction horizons, and there is no need for the terminal set computation and reinforcement that are common requirements to guarantee stability. However, the inclusion of the contraction constraint in the definition of the underlying optimization problem often leads to n...

Generalized terminal state constraint for model predictive control

This manuscript contains technical results related to a particular approach for the design of Model Predictive Control (MPC) laws. The approach, named “generalized” terminal state constraint, induces the recursive feasibility of the underlying optimization problem and recursive satisfaction of state and input constraints, and it can be used for both tracking MPC (i.e. when the objective is to t...

Model Predictive Control for Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems without Terminal Constraint

In this work we present new results on model predictive control (MPC) for nonlinear time-delay systems. In the first part we derive a novel scheme for determining a suitable terminal cost and terminal region based on the Jacobi linearization of the nonlinear system. The main advantage of the proposed scheme compared to previous results is that the terminal region is defined as a sublevel of the...

Economic model predictive control with self-tuning terminal cost

In this paper, we propose an economic model predictive control (MPC) framework with a self-tuning terminal weight, which builds on a recently proposed MPC algorithm with a generalized terminal state constraint. First, given a general time-varying terminal weight, we derive an upper bound on the closed-loop average performance which depends on the limit value of the predicted terminal state. Aft...

Economic receding horizon control without terminal constraints

We consider a receding horizon control scheme without terminal constraints in which the stage cost is defined by economic criteria, i.e., not necessarily linked to a stabilization or tracking problem. We analyze the performance of the resulting receding horizon controller with a particular focus on the case of optimal steady states for the corresponding averaged infinite horizon problem. Using ...
